FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE

A DEFINING MOMENT

April 4, 2012

Dear Mission Partners,

We have just returned from the first meeting here in Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone.  I believe that this campaign is more than a few good evangelistic meetings.  This week will be a prophetic and historic defining moment for the nation.

Earlier today we paid a courtesy visit to the state president and formally invited him to the campaign.  Tonight he attended the meeting in the national stadium along with members of his family.  Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke preached a crystal clear Gospel message and when he gave the altar call many thousands responded.  We also heard wonderful testimonies of miraculous healings and we are rejoicing!

This is only the beginning and we covet your prayers this week as we storm the gates of Hell.   Pray that the Gospel would penetrate even the hardest of hearts, that the Holy Spirit would draw sinners from every corner and that mighty signs and wonders would mightily confirm the declaration of the Word.  We are standing shoulder to shoulder in this mighty harvest.  The best is yet to come!

Yours in the Gospel,

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda

THE TIDE IS RISING

April 5, 2012

Dear Mission Partners,

The national stadium was filled tonight with 60,000 people hungry for the Word of God.  I preached the Gospel, prayed for the sick and Jesus did the rest:

A woman who had been terribly sick for two years was taken to the hospital where they diagnosed her several life threatening illnesses including malaria, typhoid fever, tuberculosis and HIV Aids.  The doctors said that there was no hope for her and they sent her home to die.  She came to the meeting tonight on deaths doorstep knowing that this was her last hope.  During the prayer for the sick the power of God came upon her, strength returned to her body and all her symptoms vanished.  She came to the platform with tears streaming down her cheeks as the thanked Jesus over and over and then she collapsed on the ground sobbing, "Thank you Jesus, Thank you Jesus.'  It was the purest worship I've ever heard.

We heard that one lady came to the meeting tonight on crutches, but the moment she limped onto the field a miracle happened.  She dropped her crutches and walked totally healed.

For all the testimonies and all the miracles, all the glory goes to Jesus.  The tide is rising here in Sierra Leone and there is much more to come.

A GOOD FRIDAY

April 6, 2012

Dear Mission Partners,

Tonight at the campaign here in Sierra Leone, I preached about the power in the blood of Jesus.  Thousands heard the Gospel and received Jesus as Saviour and Lord.  I can't think of a better way to spend Good Friday than this.  We didn't just talk about the cross, we experienced it's power first hand.

Tomorrow morning will be the last meeting of the Fire Conference.  Please pray with us for a mighty outpouring that will impact the whole nation.

From all of us here in Freetown, have a blessed Good Friday.

Yours in the Gospel,

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda

AN AMAZING STORY

April 7, 2012

Dear Mission Partners,

Today I spoke to a man with an amazing story.  He attended our first Gospel Campaign in Sierra Leone in 1991 accidently.  He came from a Muslim family, but he was not religious.  In fact he was a drug addict, an alcoholic and a fornicator.  He had no exposure to Christianity and had never heard the Gospel, but he was a football fan.  He used to come to the national stadium quite often to watch his favourite team play and one night, when he saw that a huge crowd had packed into the venue he decided to see what was going on.  He stumbled into the meeting drunk and high, but he said the moment he entered the stadium he felt something he had never felt before.  The hair on his arm stood up and he had goose bumps all over.  Suddenly he became sober.  He heard Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke preach the Gospel and surrendered his life to Christ.

That was 21 years ago. Today he is a pastor, and a church planter who has started 10 churches in Sierra Leone.  I wonder how many thousands of stories like this we have never heard.  One thing is certain; mighty things are happening here and Jesus is doing His work.

Tonight a woman testified that she came to the meeting crippled.  Her right foot had been severely broken twice and she could only hobble around with a crutch and even then with pain.  But during the prayer for the sick, she said it felt like someone was unscrewing something from her foot.  She thought one of the ushers was doing something to her foot.  She looked down, but there was no one.  The unscrewing sensation continued until she realised the pain was gone and she could now walk!

Tomorrow is the final meeting here in Freetown. Please continue to pray for us and have a wonderful Resurrection Sunday.

HE IS RISEN INDEED

April 8, 2012

Dear Mission Partners,

The final meeting of our Gospel Campaign here in Freetown, Sierra Leone has just come to a close and we are rejoicing. The stadium bleachers were packed tonight and the stadium workers were forced to open the gates so thousands could overflow onto the grass (which they originally told us they were unwilling to do).

I spoke about the resurrection of Jesus and it's unparalleled significance.  "And if Christ be not raised' Paul said, "your faith is vain and you are yet in your sins.' (I Cor. 15:17) Without the resurrection the crucifixion would have been just an execution.  But the good news is this, "Now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept." Miracles, salvations, healings, and deliverance like the ones that took place tonight bear witness to this wonderful reality '“ that He is risen indeed!

  • A woman who was partially blind in both eyes received her sight tonight
  • A woman who was bent sideways for years suddenly straightened upright and can now walk normally.
  • A woman whose womb was swollen and painful with cancer said that during the prayer she felt a warmth come over her body and the swelling and pain vanished.
  • A man with a paralysed arm and leg was restored.

We are praising the Lord for the mighty harvest here this week and so thankful that we have been given the open door to proclaim the Gospel.

Thank you again for standing with us in the harvest.

May God bless you richly,

Yours in the Gospel,

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda
